Breaking It In

It’s done. I’ve made the first big step in breaking in a new
(notebook|sketch book|website) by taking a pen or pencil
and making a big scribble on the first page. Has anyone else heard of
this?
My understanding is that a fresh new
(notebook|sketch book|website is pristine and perfect. It
is undisturbed by human hands and, as such, cannot be touched. I don’t
know how many times I’ve purchased a new notebook just to have it sit
immaculate on a shelf or in a pile somewhere. Who am I to sully such
pristine beauty with my scratchings! Zounds, etc.
This is where the scribbles come in. You need to destroy perfection to make something truly your own. So make a goddamned mess of that first page as soon as possible and get it over with. You’ll be glad you did.
So hey, hi. Welcome to my new site! My main goal is to use this space as conditioning and community accountability. If I only ever have to answer to myself, then I would never share any of my creative endeavours publicly out of fear and shame. So now I have you to answer to as well. Congratulations! And thank you.
As time progresses and I settle in, there are bound to be some minimal changes to this website. The main goal of the design is to be as simple as possible. I want this website to render immediately on the oldest of hardware and the weakest of signals. I want it to be as accessible and comfortable as possible for everyone, and that will probably take some trial and error. I greatly appreciate everyone’s patience in that regard. In due time, I’ll do a full write-up on this site, my design decisions, goals, and plans going forward.
But for now, welcome! To learn a little more about me, check out the ../about page. If you want to get an idea of some of the stuff I am working on, you can have a look at the ../projects page. This site also has an RSS feed for those who are interested.
If you have suggestions for me and/or my website, or just want to be social, feel free to get in touch with me through Mastodon. Please keep it civil, kind, and constructive. I’m doing this for myself and nobody else.
Thanks, and peace.
